Like the title said, this is a Video Game Review (Lord knows we need ANOTHER person doing these things, so don't expect a lot) of WANTED: Weapons of Fate, for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
It is difficult to review a movie-liscensed game that won't also be a review on the movie as well, especially one that plays more like an interactive sequel then a direct movie tie-in, but I'll do my best.
----POSSIBLE SPOILERS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!----
WANTED: Weapons of Fate (WWOF) follows a young assassin named Wesley Gibson, approx. 6 hours after the end of the movie (hence the phrase interactive sequel), in his further counter-pursuit of the Fraternity of Assassins. Also intertwined in the Main Storyline are Acts where you play as Cross and unfold the events of his betrayal. There is little to differentiate between Cross and Wesley, as both handle the cover system and mechanics exactly. The only discernible difference would be that Wesley uses a pistol and Cross uses two (or two SMGS, depending on the Act), but for the last two Acts Wesley gets the same weapons.
The game intelligently decided to NOT release directly with the movie, enabling the developers to spend a lot more time with it then most Move Game tie-ins these days. Sure, it's short, but handles better then, say, "Iron Man", and looks a hell of a lot nicer than "Jumper: Griffin's Story". Set-pieces are re-used frequently, because the main aspect of the game is the Gears of War-style cover system (albeit you cover a LOT more distance from jump to jump in WWOF, but there's no roadie run) that allows for very easy flanking of your enemies, especially quickly if you forced them all into cover beforehand, a trait that seems emphasized by the game.
The "Wanted" signature move, bullet bending, is achieved very easily (almost too much so) by pressing a button to lock onto an enemy, pushing the control stick in a direction to bend the arc until the arc and target are white (signifying a strike), and letting go. You shoot, he dies (or is crippled, depending on the type of baddie), and you move on to the next one, presuming the camera doesn't decide to follow the bullet slo-mo until it perforates the guy's artery, which seems to be a completely random occurence, although highly satisfying. Bullet-time is a staple here, as well, taking place in special moves and a very unique Quick-Time Event. Let me explain.
Little cinemas throughout the game take control of your character for brief periods of time, giving the control back to you to press a button. But here's the jist: you don't press a button. You line up your crosshairs with a bad guy in blurred, high-speed vision and shoot him. If he tried to shoot you, then you have to shoot the bullet(s) out of mid-air before they hit you. While it is a fun take on Quick Time Events in general, it raises some questions, mainly: why do my bullets travel faster in slo-mo then his do? Regardless, they are fun little breaks in the fire/cover/fire pattern.
What was NOT fun (for me, at least) were the Sniper and Turret occurences. Your character reaches a specific point and needs to man a Shielded Turret or Sniper Rifle for a solid minute or two, or until every guy dies or you die, whichever comes first. A question, if I may: on what kind of turret does the shielding EVER come off? You can actually lose these moments and die because the enemies stripped off the shielding of your turret. And in Sniper moments, you can't curve bullets, slow down time, or even move around your post to get a better view! You pop up, look down your scope, and if you see someone, BLAM. If not, duck before you die, look around as best you can in 3rd person, and try again. I didn't enjoy these parts at all, and it's hard to see what kind of person can.
Overall, though, the game is tight and enjoyable, if short, ranging about 5-6 hours on "Pussy" (that is the real name for the Easy difficulty, I swear) depending on how good a video game player you are. Tons of secrets can be unlocked, including artwork and playable characters, including trophies and achievements if you use the RIGHT character at the RIGHT moment.
My score: 8. Try before you buy, but at very least, rent it.
Now, the aforementioned (and other stuff): I apologize to any and all deviants that have been waiting for my next installment of Four Horsemen of Wormwood (or if you watch me for more than just that, any thing at all), and I wish I had a better explanation to give you faithful viewers. But I don't, so I am very sorry I'm a lazy git. If it's any comfort, I have actually been writing bits and pieces, so stay tuned, and I'll have something new soon. The question I ask you: would you rather Viggo's little prologue-piece, Dando embarassing himself with Tristy (which I'm sure will spawn countless fanart), or should I do something for Malik and/or Arin? Leave comments to voice your choice, maybe you'll get lucky.
P.S. Did anyone else read every 'WWOF' I typed above as "Woof"?

If I were you, I'd head over to her page and read as much Salad Days as you like, then, if you're still interested, come back to my gallery and read about my Horsemen. I'm sure she'd love to hear such enthusiastic enjoyment.

And my stories are on an unfortunate stand-still; after all, The original Salad Days is as well, and I wish to wait on Tyshea's changes before I continue too far on my own.
